A Sewn Item A Week – Week ’34’

Week ’34’ – Summer day-pants

As the days are finally warming up here in Melbourne, I decided it was time for some Summer Day-Pants – cool and floaty – for wearing to the beach or around the pool.    Yes – arguably there is a ‘Visible Panty Line’ – but at least I’m wearing some, and I think it’s OK to show bathers under garments.

Anyhoo… the pants are a really simple straight leg pattern – they are fitted around the buttocks, and then flow to just below the knee.   At the top, instead of an elastic I have used a band of black ribbing (I heart ribbing!) – the ribbing makes a really simple, soft finish to the top of the pants – easy to slip on and off, and comfortable for around the waist.  The fabric is a very light weight, poly-mix.
