A Sewn Item A Week – Week 24

Week 24 – Simplicity 2850 Hat (without beak)

Cop out or Catch Up… I hear the cynical voices…

I’d like to say Catch Up – in my defense my machine was absent for a while, so my sewn items fell behind.  But I am determined!!  This week I have a remnant from Clegs that I picked up for $2.50 – pure wool, cashmere blend.   I decided with such a small amount of material it would be perfect for a little hat.   I used the Simplicity 2850 pattern, and just made a couple of alterations.   I felt the wool was thick enough that it didn’t need any interfacing, and I removed the ‘beak’ from the pattern – makes it look a little more french.

I had some lovely paisley fat-flat for the inside, which being pure cotton helps the inside band not to itch my head as scratchy wool can sometimes do.  Lovely, simple pattern, and helps my brown-blue wardrobe conundrum.
