Week 13 – nani IRO’s baby bib
With the birth of my nephew last week, I thought I should add some baby items to my SewnItemsAWeek… This little baby bib is from a Japanese designer’s website, who kindly posts her patterns online as well.
The pattern came from Nani Iro and her 2009 collection. The pattern is quite simple, and I chose two fabrics to sew it in – they are also reversible, and fix with velcro at the top. The bias binding edging is the most tedious, and I tried two different methods for edging the bibs. The bird pattern one is the true bias binding method and seems to sit better. The spotty pattern, I sewed the edging into the seams, and then turned it inside out. For the rounded ends the latter method does not work so well.
The bibs were simple to make, and made a lovely gift for Thomas.
