A Sewn Item A Week – Week 7

Week 7 – Five-dollar Fancy Frill Skirt!

This skirt was easy to make and *really* cheap!!  The fabric was a bargain, bought at the Obus sale for $5!  And I used left over fabric for the trimmings.   The design is a simple pencil skirt – with darts and a zip at the back.  The base frill utilises four quarter circles to form the fullness.  It is quite constrained around the thighs, but allows for small walking steps, and an elegant crossing of the legs whilst sitting.   I think it will go really beautifully with my winter wardrobe which includes lots of browns and creams.   The fabric also has a splash of green in it which could be picked up in stockings or shoes.
